Shocking Recording Shows Point Police Suffer Blade Attacks in Unexpected Assault
One ranking policeman that leaped to the aid of a colleague that got attacked by a knifeman has been awarded the Monarch's Honor for Courage.
Sergeant Tim Ansell fought with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown after he placed a knife to the neck of his partner Sergeant Marc Foster.
Brown launched his attack as the officers and their third officer, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a driver following a traffic accident in that location in July 2023.
Brown attacked with blade the two Sgt Ansell and Sgt Foster prior to Police Constable Wolstencroft stopped him with a Taser.
"Policeman stabbed," PC Wolstencroft stated over his radio.
Officer-mounted and dashcam recording released by the force showed Brown, who was dressed in black with a hood covering head, run up to Sergeant Foster from behind with a weapon outstretched.
He struck the officer who stumbled and dropped to the ground, after which Sgt Ansell jumped in and struggled to restrain him to the pavement although being repeatedly struck with the blade.
Police Constable Wolstencroft deployed his electric weapon and sought a open target, bringing the confrontation to an conclusion.
Sergeant Ansell was heard stating: "Please provide something on my neck now, I've been stabbed in the neck."
Sergeant Ansell sustained multiple lacerations to his neck and further cuts to his arms and torso, whereas Sgt Foster suffered cut injuries.
Officials stated Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to control his fellow officer's bleeding prior to emergency responders came.
The new recognition arrives subsequent to the law enforcement team were granted internal Courage Honors in October 2023 and the John Egerton Bravery Award from the area union branch in spring 2024.
They were also awarded a North West Courage Honor in July 2024.
"The actions of all three officers eventually saved themselves and ensured no members of the public experienced any wounds."
Brown was given to an secure medical confinement in early 2024, as stated by officials.
