British Armed Forces Sites to Accommodate Asylum Seekers in Bid to Cease Hotel Accommodation
Several hundred individuals seeking protection could be housed in military barracks as the administration seeks to terminate the utilization of hotels.
Talks are in progress regarding the utilization of two facilities - one in the Scottish region and a second in the English south - for shelter for 900 male individuals.
The Prime Minister has instructed Domestic Affairs and Defense Department authorities to speed up initiatives to find proper military sites.
The government has pledged to terminate the use of asylum hotels, which have required billions in funds and turned into a primary concern for anti-asylum seeker rallies.
Planned Military Locations
Asylum seekers may be placed in the Inverness barracks in the Scottish city and Crowborough army training camp in southeastern England by the final days of the upcoming month.
Commercial facilities, temporary accommodation and vacant properties are also being examined for possible utilization.
Government Statements
Government sources confirmed that each location would meet safety regulations.
"We are furious at the level of illegal migrants and refugee lodging facilities."
"Our administration will terminate every asylum hotel. Efforts are advancing rapidly, with more suitable sites being brought forward to alleviate strain on communities and decrease migrant housing expenditures."
Existing Accommodation Statistics
Around 32,000 refugee applicants are presently being housed in temporary lodging, representing a decrease from a high point of more than 56,000 in last year.
A current assessment found that substantial amounts of government revenue had been "misused" on asylum accommodation.
Prior Military Site Usage
Two previous defense facilities - MDP Wethersfield in Essex and former military base in Kent - are presently being utilized to accommodate refugee applicants after being opened under the former administration.
The administration head remarked on the situation, saying: "The government is committed to shut down all asylum hotels. It's difficult to express how frustrated and angry I am that we've been left with a situation as big as the current circumstances by the former leadership."
